A Whole New Kirstie Alley

This edition of people is a little different from the rest. There is still news about Katrina and it still hits the headline of People Magazine, but the main attraction on the cover page is Kirstie Alley. Now i am sure almost everyone knows who Kirstie Alley is. She has been an actress for a long time now. I am also sure that many of you have seen pictures of Kirstie's weight changes. In 1997 she was at 132 pounds and she looked amazing, but she said it was very hard to stay that skinny and eat right all the time. Then as time went on Kirstie Alley gained a lot of weight. She had topped 200 pounds in 2004 and started to realize that it had gone too far. At first she did not care too much about the weight gain and she was very happy, eating whatever she wanted, when she wanted. She even had a semi-reality TV show called Fat Actress. But now she has changed alot and lost 50 pounds with the Jenny Craig program and is still losing more and more. She is starting to look good again and feel good and confident about herself. She hit a wrong turn but she is back on the right track and looks better than ever. I think Kirstie is very pretty and am glad she is getting back to her healthy, normal weight. For more information go to Kirsties Blog at http://www.jennycraig.com/kirstie/012505.asp

In addition to Kirstie Alley, Destiny's Child (Beyonce, Michelle, and Kelly) did their last and final concert together. Even though the group is breaking up, they are still very close. Their fans are very upset, and i am upset too, but i also think that Beyonce is better off alone, as well as the rest of them. What do you guys think? The reason i think they are better off is because Beyonce has become so successful by herself, as well as the other girls doing their own songs.

One last thing i want to say is to keep helping Katrina victums. More news has come up that children are missing their families and are being raised by other relatives. This tragedy is still going on and we need to continue to help. Anything you think of to send to the victums, please do because something, anything is better than nothing.

    Hey Danielle
I actually got a chance to read this weeks People magazine and you did a great job of putting everything into your blog. I really can't stand Kirstie Alley too much but I guess she did lose a lot of weight so we can give her some credit for that. I also agree with you about the hurricane victims- we still need to be sending money and supplies or helping out as much as we can. I like how you put the pictures up on your blog and also included Kirsties blog for anyone who wanted to go look at it- keep up the good work!

I agree with you that Kirstie Alley is a beautiful woman and I am happy to see she has taken control of her health and lost the excessive weight that she gained in the past couple years. However 50 pounds is a lot to lose as quickly as she did so I hope she is being healthy about losing weight because otherwise she would be setting a bad example for overweight women everywhere. From the recent pictures I have seen of her, I think she looks great how she is now and losing more than 15 more pounds would be unnecessary, so hopefully she is comfortable with how she looks now. Besides that, I think it's awesome that she has her own blog too, it makes her seem like such a "real" person. On another note, although the Destiny's Child ladies have had success on thier own, I don't agree with their decision to split up. They grew up together, saw each other through so many phases of life and gained so much respect and loyalty from fans worldwide and I feel like they have a responsibility to stay true to that. I don't know details of exactly why they split up, but I feel like it should be something they could have worked out after being through so much together. If they want to do some of their own work seperately, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do that and still stay together as a group. I enjoy your blog and I am excited to see what will be in this week's People Mag!

I totally agree Danielle, Kirstie Alley looks absolutely amazing. I have always loved her from her days on Cheers when she was at her skinniest. It was amazing how much weight she gained in a matter of a few years but I am happy to see she finally taking off. I think she is a role model for women with weight problems. She doesn't lie and say it's easy to lose the weight, she tells the truth and the whole truth. I hope she loses another 50 pounds and continues to be a success. I wonder what they will call her show if she isn't fat anymore, "Skinny Actress"...probably not. On another note, it is so sad that all these children can't find their families, it's been weeks now and people are still missing. It's still so hard to believe that something so horrible is happening in the United States. Anyway, great post, I look forward to hearing the latest from People magazine next week.

Thanks for all the people magazine recaps. I get a subscription but since the summer has ended I haven’t had much time for more than looking at the pictures or quickly flipping through because of school and work. As for Kirstie Alley, I think she looks much better now but I just find those Jenny Craig commercials so annoying! Also, I realize that she became overweight but I think that her whole situation just reiterates the “hardship” of being a normal person in Hollywood (I put hardship in quotes because it can’t be that hard living in a mansion and being rich). I think it’s really awful that it’s such a big deal that the lady gained some weight, and that it’s a cover story that she is loosing it... just an opinion though.

Now I know this may sound harsh, but I think the best thing that ever could have happened to Kirstie Allie was to hit 200 pounds. As much as she had struggled with her weight before this and tried to make fun of it by staring in "Fat Actress" I think that once the scale tipped out of the 100ish range and into 200 pounds, Kirstie was given a slap in the face to wake up and make some changes. I think she has actually gotten more press for her recent weight loss campaign than she probably has had since her days on Cheers and I also believe that she will be a good role model for other women who may be overweight and have just given up. I feel like in hollywood these days the celebrities are either stick thin or porking up. It is really not a positive message to society....

I think Kristie Alley looks great! When she first went on Oprah last year and decided that she was going to lose weight, I was really hoping that she stook with it, not becuase she was overweight, but because you could tell it was something that she wanted to do for herself, and not for the rest of the world adn the media. The Katrina victimes who can't find their family members is the saddest thing I've read in a while. To see the little girls picture on the two pages was so heart wrenching. I hope they are able to find their families

Danielle, I completely agree with you that Kirstie Alley does look amazing. She has always been pretty and I am glad to see that she is now getting back on track to a healthy lifestyle and is feeling good about herself once again. Honestly I never realized that she had really gained that much weight over the years. I mean she did look heavier, but I didn’t realize how much weight she had really put on. I think that it is great that she is keeping a blog because I think it will help inspire many people to try Jenny Craig in hopes that they will experience similar success to Kirstie’s. As for her sitcom, Fat Actress, is it still on the air? I heard about it briefly but I feel like it wasn’t publicized all that well because other than the name of the show and knowing Kirstie Alley was the star, I don’t know that much more about it. I am glad to hear that Destiny’s Child members are still very close. I know they all did their own thing for a while, but I think Beyonce was really the only one who actually made it as a solo artist. You never can tell if there is jealousy involved when group members go do their own thing and some really succeed and others simply do not. I hope that they remain close in the years to come.

It is absolutely unbelievable how much weight Kirstie has lost since the beginning of her diet program with Jenny Craig. I remember seeing Kirstie on the Oprah show a few months ago, if not longer. She was decorating her house. I found it shocking that she took such great care of her house, but didn’t feel the importance to take care of herself. By no means am I picking on her, but it’s important to stay somewhat healthy. On a positive note, Kirstie agreed to follow the Jenny Craig diet plan and has really come a long way. She has more to lose but she’s going a great job. It must not be as easy as it looks. She is so much happier now and probably doing much more shopping than she did before. I do feel bad that comedy central and other shows still pick on her for her weight, but I guess that just gives her more motivation!

Kirstie Alley has had a roller coaster of a career. She keeps going up and down and I think a lot of this whole "fat actress" thing is for publicity. She has gets a lot of attention just because of her weight. I think it's great that she's losing weight and getting back to a healthier body. I went to her blog with the link that you provided; it's very inspirational for anyone that's going through what she is. I have a feeling Jenny Craig paid her to say a lot of what she said though, because she tends to preach Jenny in about every other sentence.
As for Destiny's Child, I'm so upset that they're splitting up. I really don't think it's necessary! Beyonce can do her own thing but also continue to make songs with the other girls. I don't think the other two girls will be as successful without the group, so it would be in their best interest. I love their music and I'm sad that they won't be making any more.

Kirstie Alley let it slip, plain and simple. No one made her stay at her 132 pounds, and honestly for an aging woman that seems a little ridiculous to expect her to maintain that. That being said, she is a very attractive woman, as we are starting to see again, thanks to Jenny Craig or her personal struggles. Either way, I am glad that she was able to get her image back on track and is able to be happy while eating and losing weight instead of eating and only gaining it.

As far as Destiny's Child, they had a great run and I think its fair to say they could all have successful independent careers, although Beyonce has a leg up on them. She served as the face of the group for a majority of the time, and have Jay Z as a boyfriend doesn't hurt either. I saw her perform in a concert a couple years back and there is no denying her gifted voice and the fact that she is very talented.

Personally, I am a little sick of hearing all about Kirstie Alley and her weight. I don't like stick-thin actresses and I know that women in the spotlight especially struggle with their weight, but it seems like Kirstie Alley is using her up and down relationship with weight to hold on to being famous. What has she done lately anyway? Her television show "Fat Actress" but what was that about...her weight. I suppose the one good thing about it all is that she can help other people who are going through the same thing but honestly, she was skinny, gained a lot of weight, is trying to lose it...great. It happens.
On another note, I would really rather read about Hurricane Katrina victims and what people can do to help instead of hear about Kirstie Alley dropping 25 pounds.
